I get similar flights offered by our flight booking program which is a POS. We used to just be able to book a good flight direct, now they have us on this program that forces us to use the cheapest flight possible which sucks bigtime, but the same program will offer those 12,000$ flights on Private/chartered aircraft. Stupid thing is those flights also have many stops and take 12 hours to get somewhere that should take a direct flight like 2-4 hours.

ive been looking to book some quick vacations but im not in a real big hurry to travel. Once the restrictions for travel are lifted, i have a huge backlog of work to do which is going to involve a whole lotta flights. Yipee. Corona hit right at the beginning of my main travel season.

I have a HUGE credit with United thru Expedia because we had to cancel our Spring Break trip due to Covid.  I wanted to book a trip during Xmas, Denver to San Diego (to visit my folks) to Mexico to Denver.  Literally couldn't get to Mexico, shortest flight option from San Diego to either Cabo or Cancun was going to take 17 hours!

Gotta wait till Mexico opens the borders and the flights pick back up again I suppose.  I'd like to book some trips but its not worth doing so until things open back up again...

Small vs medium...

Yes, they are fairly small, but they are large enough to land a jumbo jet.  I fly private a lot, so I am pretty familiar with much smaller airports.

Doesn't change that they just bumped the price from $275 to $10,000.

mtn explained a few posts up how to get a normal fare.

In the past for $275, what airline(s) did you fly? Have you checked their site directly? Because it looks like you’re using a 3rd party, which are probably less than ideal in today’s environment

To reiterate...

Book CAE to ATL

Book ATL to TTN

$275. Good chance you can do this with CLT in place of ATL.

We've always wanted to fly private.

I think outrage is very much in order.   This is a result of industry consolidation.  Fewer airlines, fewer choices, more predatory pricing.  Outrageous! angry

Outrage brings change.  Apathy promotes exploitation.

The airlines were deregulated years ago. We could go back that way. Seats would get bigger etc. but there are other consequences. Such as more limited choice in destinations and timing.

This is the equivalent of a contractor high bidding a job they don't want.  Put away your outrage flag.

The construction industry has never received a $50 billion dollar bailout.  I'm not sure any contractor has ever received a bailout at all.

I think it's time for a major restructuring of the airline industry.  The construction industry is doing just fine, thank you.

Yes. Let's go back to government control.  De regulation of the postal service, the railroads and the airlines has not been perfect.  But why not stop there. Medicine and energy generation and  and and and and and and.

It's really just that route. $99 one way from Denver to Burbank to go get my new purchase booked like 30 minutes ago.

What would you suggest?

No matter how you structure it, it doesn't make economic sense to offer those flights right now.

I don't believe I have any obligation to offer an alternative suggestion.

I was simply observing the airlines are effed up, and sharing a screenshot I thought people would find interesting.
