I keep seeing/hearing random people make the same 6-ish note whistle. Hundreds of miles apart, same whistle. It's very distinct. They'll make the noise then look around. I've even asked a guy about it after he did it but he played dumb.
WTF is it?!?
I suspect people are fearful, and are "whistling in the dark".
"whistle in the dark": to attempt to summon up one's courage or optimism in a difficult situation: He says his business will improve next year, but he's probably just whistling in the dark.
Did you do the secret handshake with that person before asking?
Learn to repeat it and see how long you can lead the next one on, just have a gun ready should things go south.
I will just say it has something to do with the Van Buren Boys
My suggestion is not investigate this any further...
they all use old spice body wash

It's a phone making a text message or email notification noise. I know what you're talking about.
Oh that bloody thing. I hate that, it sounds so real for some reason. It had me really confused for a while when I first heard it too.
Oh yeah, my wife has that as her notification tone on her phone.
Yep, its a text notification. You're not crazy, yet.

My boss's phone is set to that tone. Annoying as berk.
A secret society do exist.
Ha! I just that heard the same thing about half an hour ago. Thanks for solving the mystery!
Oh, and it's 5 tones, not 6.
Swank Force One is ILLUMINATI! QUICK! GET HIM!
I have the same tone on my phone, it was default and i couldn't be berkeleyed to change it.
Seems someone else on the floor today has the same tone, and didn't put their phone on silent like they're supposed to. Every time it goes off, i have to check my phone.
Super annoying.
If it's a berking ringtone, why are people whistling it?!? It's bad enough the phones do it.

Are you sure they are whistling it and it isn't the cell phone?
