This is quite different than what the previous administration did with the various infections that came through, like Ebola.  Then it was, "oh, no, you can't stop people from coming in or quarantine them, that would be 'ray-sis.'  Better we all die instead."  This time, it's "F' that.  Put them all in quarantine for 2 weeks until we see they are not infected.

bruh

Ebola is only transmitted via fluids, and most of Africa's problems with disease in general is because they lack infrastructure for water treatment and traditional burial rights. We also have a new vaccine that is considered "Highly effective" since 2015.

I've been following it in the medical world.

I find Dailymotion's grasp of medicine to be a little weak

I have no idea what Dailymotion is, but I have been following the current problem on Medscape and the emails that the CDC and ADH (Arkansas Department of Health) send me direct.  ZH is nice filler for news you will never see on CNN and other Fake News Networks.

For some people if the news doesn't confirm what they already think is the truth then it's fake news. You'll never be able to get them to change their minds.

The 200 people  that are in "Corona Prison"  are at the old Air Force base by where Riverside Raceway was , about 30 miles from the City of Corona California.

I was stationed there (March ARB) from 2014-2017. I wonder if they're keeping them in that haunted infirmary where they kept small pox patients 100 years ago.

Ah I miss it there!

Now that ZeroHedge has been permantly banned from Twitter for having the gall to discuss a paper from an Indian scientist, I can only conclude that there must be more to this Coronovirus story.

Interesting facts from a recent briefing: Most of our medical personal protective equipment (suits, gloves, and masks) is shipped from China. Most of the compounds used in pharmaceutical products are shipped from China.

Wow, just read this page, and I see this is not really a helpful thread about the virus.  Too much flounder already...

Still, going on a cruise in just under 2 weeks, and the company isn't going to allow people who have traveled to China in the last 15 days to board the ship.  I'm ok with that.

This one is a lot more transmittable than Ebola- since it's transmitted just like every other flu.  Which we have all gotten at one point or another.  Still have not gotten a virus that is transmitted via blood.

Not going to bother reading more of this thread.  Not all that helpful to read floudering BS.

They all worked for the US government in Wuhan or were family ,

It was a special flight ,

I am not sure they could get away with doing this to a Delta or United flight .

Apparently they are doing exactly that. My wife has family that were in China at the time of the outbreak. They're heading home on a commercial flight, but will need to spend time in quarantine when they get back.

And sure enough, it looks like the Onion managed to scoop the mainstream media:

CDC Said:

A presidential proclamation is currently in place that bars U.S. entry to foreign nationals who have visited mainland China within the past 14 days; the ban does not apply to travelers from Hong Kong and Macao. Immediate family members of U.S. citizens and individuals who have U.S. permanent resident status are exempted from the entry ban and will be allowed entry into the United States.

However, explained Dr. Messonnier, those who have traveled to China recently and are permitted entry will be subject to screening. All passengers with such recent travel will be directed to one of 11 U.S. airports set up to perform additional screening.

As of Feb 3, the list of airports includes:

  • San Francisco International Airport in California.

  • Los Angeles International Airport in California.

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.

  • Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii.

  • O'Hare International Airport in Illinois.

  • Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Michigan.

  • Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

  • John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas.

  • Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington.

Travelers who have been to Hubei Province in the previous 14 days will have an additional health assessment at which they will be screened for fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. Any American citizens or exempt individuals who are symptomatic would then be transferred for further medical evaluation. Asymptomatic travelers in this category will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine near their point of entry, rather than continuing on to their final destinations.

I'm a little surprised Orlando isn't on that list, given the sheer number of tourists . Additionally, with Disneyland in both Hong Kong and mainland being shuttered, you'd think the mouse would lean on the cdc a little more.

I haven't seen you post a retraction on the India study so figured I'd give you a head start.

The official-looking, highly technical paper whipped dozens of onlookers into a frenzy, declaring on Twitter and at least one blog that it showed the virus was "man-made" and "not natural" and "prob. not random." But that day and throughout the weekend, an army of scientists also tore apart its claims and pointed out there was no proof the matches were anything but a meaningless coincidence.

The authors of the study withdrew their paper because of the backlash for suggesting anything out of the main stream report, and they didn't want to overly imply that there was nefarious intent involved, or something like that.  Still worth reading the paper.
