Don't look at me, man. It's in a big tub that says "plant protein" on it and it taste WAY better than the say or whey protein powders. I think she orders it from hippies.

Good to know. The wife tried soy protein I think a week or two ago.........made it completely undrinkable.

Most of my smoothies are fruit. I use flax seed, sometimes yogurt and sometimes the whey powders. If you don't overdo it the whey is good and makes it thick and rich.

Spinach seems to go in just about all things without ruining the flavor. That really surprised me. I usually make sure I have enough spinach in mine to be equavalent to a salad.

Carrots on the other hand only seem to work in fruit smoothies.

When I first started doing these I decided to approach them like cooking and have been using spices and comfortable combos.

I used some low fat cottage cheese (small amount just to give it a little cheesyness, cooked amaranth, spinach, some tofu and an italian red sauce complete with mushrooms and all things you'd use to make spaghetti sauce except meat (I used a little chicken boullion) and made a Spinach lasagna smoothie. It was great!

Drank it hot.

The mexican tamale smoothie didn't work out so well the first time, but I have high hopes for the second time. The masa worked surprisingly well, but I needed to use less - a lot less. Chili powder just seems to need to be cooked or the flavor is very bright and harsh. And a small amount of cumin seems to go a long way.

Cheese flavor is the one ingredient I've not been able to source.

You'd be surprised. Keep in mind, in your mouth it's all mixed up and mixed together when you eat it the traditional way. Getting the noodle flavor was the tough part. Amaranth and tofu were very close.

Smoothies aren't just fruit and/or weird vegetables enjoyed by hippies.

EDIT: OK once I posted that it looked much weirder than it sounded in my head. I don't know if hippies enjoy weird vegetables, enjoy vegetables in a weird way OR (as I meant it) weird smoothies that only a hippie would like.
