This reminds me a of a story I heard about someone who rented a CTS for a track day at Thunderhill. He messed the entrance to one of the uphill corners (turn 5 for those who been there) and hit the curbing really hard. OnStar called a few seconds later to make sure he was alright.

A couple of the buff magazines had that problem when they were testing GM cars. Pretty funny. I'm glad my dad doesn't have OnStar on his Rendezvous (not that it's capable of getting OnStar's attention unless it's actually in an accident or stolen).

There's a chance it was the deceleration as well. That has triggered OnStar during testing as well. Can't think of who's CTS (V6) or what magazine when the new CTS came out, but the braking tests caused OnStar to call. Seen in mentioned on a Vette as well.

Maybe because the car has the Hennessey badge on it? I've heard horror stories about the quality of that place....maybe onstar was just checkin in to see if everything was still in place.

I knew that OnStar would contact you to check if you were okay when the airbags blew, I didn't know vehicle telemetry would trigger it. I don't find it spooky, I find it funny

I'm guessing they monitor the acceleration to predict if you're rear-ended. Onstar probably didn't expect 700hp on drag radials, so they set the acceleration threshold needed to indicate being rear ended fairly low.

With all the Hennessey bashing, I feel obligated to step in. I know some guys that work there, and John Hennessey isn't the majority owner of the shop anymore, or something like that. As far as I know, he doesn't run much of the shop anymore. The work done there is pretty damn good, I've seen a lot of their fabrication work. All the mechanics I talked to knew exactly why they got so much badmouthing in the enthusiast community in the past, and feel like that's behind them.

As long as Hennessey is even remotely involved, the bashing will continue.The best bet would be to get rid of Hennessey, change the name of the shop, and move the location.

I read somewhere that they considered changing the shops name but were afraid to have to start over. They would rather have the bad baggage with the JH association then to have to start fresh.
