So I frequently use the Your Posts shortcut to navigate the forum.  I generally only use the first 3-4 pages but there are MANY more.  Today I noticed that I have 85 pages, and the way the software filters it, it shows pages 1, 2, 3, ... 85.  So I clicked on page 85 and opened up my oldest Necrothread.  From 12 years ago.

Apparently back 12 years ago there was a bit of a gas crisis and Geo Metro's where selling for up to $8,000.

200x-challaengers-you-can-forget-about-geo-metros

I realize this isn't actually my oldest post, as the sorting is based on the last post in a thread but still looking back 12 years ago is interesting.   I also know that this doesn't include the old forum.  A lot of posts talking about design decisions for my MG which now runs.   I also found a thread talking about a forum I was on in 2001..   Geez I've been basically chatting randomly on forums for almost 2 decades.

What is your oldest Necro Thread?  Any interesting gems from the wayback machine?

Yikes!

My oldest thread is 12 years old with me bitching about the loss of the previous board data and history!

(I was on the board about 5 years prior to that)

What happened?

The oldest thread currently listed that I started is me selling a Neon FSM that Per Schroeder bought, 11 years and 11 months ago.

The next oldest thread I started is me bitching about a bizarre show queen that is local to me, and - I just discovered - still around after 11 years 10 months, albeit in in somewhat different theme.  Feast your eyes on my local Icy Hot Stunta:

The best part is that it's an internally stock 1.8l backed (sided?) by a completely stock automatic transmission.  It's still FWD, with the pizza cutters dragging around those giant Mickey Thompsons like a rabbit chained to an oxcart.

I have 183 pages of comments. My oldest one is 11 years, 11 months ago on a thread Jstein started regarding how many photos of Mustangs there were in the latest issue. Still driving the same Mustang I was then....

also, I have no idea what my signature line on the post means...

There is something called the ignore thread.   But I've ignored it lately.

This is incredible. I don't know what my favorite detail is - it's too hard to choose, but the amp mount that appears to be built from an erector set and the speakers that are just kind of....hanging out in space are up there. What a cinematic masterpiece. The amount of time that it takes for his cell phone to focus on the thing is just too good.

Looks like mine is a TWELVE year old thread trying to find info about rally racing Mercedes 300Ds. I had just bought a 1979 model and thought the floaty suspension might have a decent amount of travel. Man, that idea still sounds cool...

Whew, I was worried I was going to get called out for posting in threads that immediately died afterwards.  I think I have killed as many as I contributed to....

My first post was on a "new board" post.  Then started a thread to get some new post counts for Alfas.

How times have changed- now I'm down to just one.

But that's the first post in the current iteration of boards.  I was here back at least to '99, as I remember the first Challenge.

I apparently have 400 pages of Your Posts.

The oldest being a post in a Dr Hess thread about renting a Hyundai.

That was a little over 11 years and a little under 21000 posts ago.

Wow.  I have 111 pages dating back to 2007.  My first post in '07 was about driving a Fiat X1/9 in the snow.  And yes, my X1/9s were pretty decent in the winter.

First post, a whatever response to a whatever "What's in your garage?" thread, September 2009.

First thread started, "Painting a car at home" from April 2010. FWIW we did paint that car at home (or rather in my dad's garage) a year later, and it came out terrible.

Too bad the archive is gone.  I think I predate that one as well, though, going back to the first version board software of around Y2K.
