Ok, so I'm going to take this past, money management, offshore accounts, paying personal debt, etc.

1) I would build a house, shop, and property with a climate controlled pole barn that will contain my car collection. The property would be large enough that I could develop some more if I needed to.

2) I'd buy vacation houses in Nice with a view of the sea, the Caribbean Island of my choosing, and Wisconsin on a lake.

3) I would buy my grandma's property so it can stay in the family and not go to the bank. I would let her live their until she passed away. I would pay for a nurse and live-in senior care person. When grandma passes, I would then re-purpose the farm for an animal sanctuary, vet hospital, and adoption center. A lot of my money would go toward funding the adoption center and animal sanctuary.

4) I would pay off my family's debt. Pay for all my unborn nephew's medical expenses for after he's born (he needs heart surgery as soon as he's born). Give my Dad and Stepmom, Mom and Stepdad, Grandma, and my Brother and SIL a money cushion. I would pay back my FIL for all that he has done for me and my wife. I would pay for my SIL to get the medical help she needs, and I haven't decided on what to do with my BIL and his hellbeast.

5) Buy a few thousand acres of rolling farm land not too far from an expressway, outside of the nearest small town. Develop about 1000 acres for a racetrack based on Meadowdale. I want it to have the "country club" type of deal, but I want budget strapped amateur racers to be able to have the fun that people with a lot of money can have. I would build an actual hotel on property (not one of those "coming soon" type deals) along with garage based condo's for rent. I don't have it all planned perfect, but I'd make it happen. Oh and the local small town would definitely see profits from this track and the rest of my acreage would be rented out to local farmers and could be later used for development.

I have to add a 6 ) Hire the right people and buy a TV station to start a real Motorsports channel. Even better, have two Motorsports channels. That way, I can broadcast bothe professional events and amateur events. I would not focus on mainly one motorsport (cough cough NASCAR), but treat them equally. I will also make sure to show races from around the world. I would also throw in some boat racing, plane racing, etc. None of this highlight reel an entire race in a half hour crap either. l also will not show informercials all night. That's prime real estate for entire length races from overseas and other automotive shows, so you can set your DVR and record them. Also for you guys who don't have cable, everything will be able to be live streamed from our website.

hire all the sherpas to do nothing. you wanna climb everest? too berkeleying bad!

buy a closed car dealership, buy a machine shop, hire some talented people, and make the world a better place through affordable resto-mods.

start a record label.

buy a huge chunk of forest somewhere, and clear just enough of the middle to build a baller track / garage / house / museum / etc.

I would be tempted to buy one of the casinos I work for. Harrah's Atlantic City most likely, then headhunt the best and brightest from Vegas and show the rest of the casinos how to actually run a casino that makes money (The Borgata can't be the only one that can make money in this town)

And I would take great joy is firing quite a few of the shiny happy person managers that have made so many people's lives miserable.

After that, I would make sure my Parents and Sisters are set.

With that done, the other 4 billion and change would go into investments where I would form a corporation just for getting the kids of Atlantic City into College.

after that was all self sufficent, I would get myself a nice 40ish foot sailboat and do a couple circumnavigations

1) Find a lawyer and accountant
2) Pay off my debts, my parents debts, my sister's debts, anyone that's been nice to me, etc
3) Pack up the family and move to Europe and start my son on his path to racing F1
4) Hire a personal trainer and cook to get me in shape
5) Buy people cars (See below)

Although I think it might work better in the US, I've always thought that if I had the money to, I'd go to my local Ford/Chevy dealer (only because they are more common than any other make) and buy an inexpensive economy car. Stick $10,000 grand in the glove box with the title. Then, when I see these people begging on street corners offer to take them to lunch. Figure out if they're really down on their luck or just bums looking for a handout. For those who need help, sign the title over to them, let them know about the cash, buy them insurance for 3 years and tell them good luck. For those who are just looking for a handout (provided that digging deeper doesn't find there really is more to their story), hand them $1000, and wish them good luck. Repeat. Tell no one. Change the car model each time.

I question how many of us enjoy or jobs or respect our employers enough to take the time to put in any sort of notice.
I wouldn't waste my time letting work know, they'd figure it out eventually.

Pay off all debt for parents and brothers and one remaining grandparent.
Call Nissan, find closest properly equipped R35, have them drive it to me.
Buy some property.
Invest most of the remainder.
Withdraw 100k in small bills, go a little wild.

I'd definitely buy Hallett and give it the cash infusion it needs to be a 1st class facility. And maybe add a nice extension to the track, so you could have the original, tight 10 turn layout........and also add some more power and/or flowing elements that lets you still run 90% of the original layout.

Big house on Grand Lake near hear for the friends and family to have a party place during the summer and winter.

I probably wouldn't do anything for a couple of months.

After that,

  1. Charity. I'm putting all of these together. Pay off my current house and give it to my eldest son along with my share of my company. Pay off rental house and give it to the couple that's renting it (A great couple). Pay off any debit that immediate family owes except my wife's oldest brother. Until he makes an effort to get his act together, he doesn't get a dime. A large amount will go to other charities. United Way, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity.

  2. Buy the biggest piece of Smokey Mountain property I can find and open a campground on half of it. A man has to have a reason to get up in the morning and I would go stir crazy without a "job" of some sort. Mostly, I'd just annoy the people I would hire to actually do all the work.

For the other half of the property...

  1. Build 100K+ square foot climate controlled warehouse and stock it with every tool that catches my eye. Full CNC machine shop, metal shop, woodworking shop, everything. Designate 20 areas for projects, each area with it's own basic tool set. Hire OCD individual to follow me around and put up the tools. (Edit: Overhead gantry crane and forklift required.)

  2. Build a monster house. Figure 10-15K square feet with a staff to keep it clean. It must have a library, a study and a theater in mahogany and leather. The wife can do what she wants with the rest of it.

  3. Lets just leave this one blank for now. I'm sure something will come to me.

Option 2: buy local phosphate strip mine that's no longer productive/in use. (We have plenty of that around here.) Set up a track like Gingerman....hill, turns, some basic facilities. It doesn't need to be lavish, but the facilities should be nicer than the GIR test track where you only have porta potties.

"It may be cruel, but 'we' have hit the jackpot..."

Now y'all know why I absolutely hated, Hated, HATED getting back into mother berkeleying television. One of the stations we service at the hub still airs "Cheaters". I've heard the host of the show was stabbed once..damn shame it wasn't the producer (since an actor is just trying to make a living). Even more of a shame that it wasn't the creator. Much more of a shame that if it had been the creator..he would have survived the attack.

This kind of thing isn't just tweaking up your friends like a regular prank..it borders on the criminal.

Every structure of every housing development within 1000 acres of Road Atlanta (Hall County, GA), purchased and bulldozed. Whine about the noise now, you shiny happy people..you should have known why the land was that cheap.

Put my brother-in-law's Punk band back together..but waterboard the drummer to see whether or not he was really just trying to kill their chances because he'd been offered to join a different band the night he walked out. Yeah, the night BIL's guys were supposed to open for Soundgarden.

I guess the last one would be to toss some cash over at JPL when the NASA budget gets squeezed again.

In reply to JoeyM:

I know of these places. The mines are nice and all, but I'd love to have the old Aerojet facility, but it's part of the Everglades National Park now.

I would start a company that can provide quickly built, non-traditional housing. Something that can be built out of locally available, self sustaining materials, or able to be packed down small enough to fit in a crate. Foam monolithic dome construction seems like an option for a house in a crate.

Other than that, I'd just mess around with things. Maybe learn some old skills like blacksmithery. Building things is more fulfilling to me than using things.
