Long shot but I better start searching now if I ever want one of these within the next 18 months. I am looking for the non turbo rx7 long pinion ring and pinion mazda had a mazdaspeed version that was formally produced with 5.12 rear end ratio and mazdatrix did a 4.778 and 4.856 where they cut the end off another pinion and welded it to the FC's pain in the ass long pinion.

Turbo rear ends are 8" and are common with FD/Rx8 but the non turbo FC is "common" with the miata 1.8 cars however they run a shallow pinion.

I do not want to go off on the deep end on grafting a pinion myself (hire someone) and risk it all on an expensive whim.

I think the only reason Mazda went to the long pinion is so the pinion flange isn't directly over the crossmember.  Ease of assembly and all that.  I've long thought about adapting a Miata or Sportage pumpkin (for the mounting bosses) to the FC, but I never had an FC to play with.

I was wondering this myself, will a miata pumpkin bolt up to the FC differential housing...  I can cut the subframe up for driveshaft space no problem.

getting a new driveshaft isn't that difficult to get built around here, fabbing a mount is not impossible either but for sake of ease... really: every way just... sucks.

Yes, all Mazda 7" bolt up to each other.  The FC aluminum housing* is a common upgrade for NA/NB Miatas, because Mazda put a built in fracture point there so the PPF won't prevent the engine from moving back in a hard collision.  FC had no PPF, so no need for a big notch cut through one of the wings.
