Assetto Corsa on PC

Well, Dean wasn't on when I joined so I ran some solo testing of my own but chose a different approach: drive each car and tune it until it felt good.  Only did 3 cars and there is still more fine tuning needed, but the MR2, the Hachi Roku (Trueno), and the Evo were all in the same ball park.  The first two were very close, and Evo was a few tenths quicker on a TT lap (like, slow out lap to not overheat the front tires then hero lap) but the front tires get so hot I think it might self correct in a race situation.  I'm going to try some other cars this week as time allows to see where they fall in relation.

After a day in the sun I was toast and fell asleep early. 

Air. We need to add to the list a Sunday Cup One lap race series. 

@Brad. Trade you mini in for a Sunday Cup car. Then you can get a spot in OLOA.  

Can you tell me if there were any updates for this game? I used to play it a few years ago, and I can tell you that it wasn't the best experience. I even decided to quit racing games and switch to shooters, and csgo bot trade helped me start making money by playing cs go. But now I'm thinking about getting back to assetto corsa, and I hope that developers managed to improve it.

Im a maybe tonight.  My G29 started doing wacko centering E36 M3 last night and I gave up.  Shame because I really liked the way that CTR drove.

I'm going to try a fresh calibration attempt, but if that doesnt work I probably wont be able to tear into it and fix it for a few days at minimum.

I am on tonight (now) testing cars with a P to W of between 6 and 7 kg per HP.  It is on the original server not the new one.  The new server is up with cars that Pro and I were messing with last night after the races.

Testing So Far

These cars are up on the old server if people want to play with them.  I am hoping that the Miata is faster as I don't think I got a really good lap with it. The rx8 is one of the best handeling cars in the game. If people want to test don't compare to my lap times compair the differences between cars and see if they are similar to the differences I have.  
 

I have been testing in as stock a configuration as possible. I am hoping to keep this as a non tuner series with the exception of fuel and tires.   

I ended up with cars that are between about 5.5 and 6.5 kg/hp.    I was keeping it to street cars with similar tire type and that were relatively modern. I think the cars in the list above are readable balanced enough that if needed I can apply a bit of a BOP to them like I did to the cars in the series that I drove the Corvette. 
 

Was that MX5 the Cup car?  NA or ND?

I'll try and hop on tonight and take some laps in each of these.  Those look like they will take a LOT of balancing...  31.6 - 35.3 is a gigantic spread.

The Abarth and the ND (not the cup car) are outliers that will most likely not be part of this.   Other than being slow they were both good cars.  the Abarth could most likely be fixed if the trans was tighter and I need to revisit the ND as I have never been good at driving them.   I am still looking for more cars.   Streetcars (no slicks) that are in the 5.5-6 KG/hp range that is relatively modern (say late 90's and up) are the sweet spot that I am looking at.  

I was thinking I would test more tonight.

Also, I may call on you Pro to tweak a car or two to bring them closer to the pack (The Abarth and the ND may need this) if we don't find more cars to use.

Your numbers are actually better than mine making a series possible. 

What I was thinking would be to come up with a list of cars. Let people choose from them and then people "qualify". We would then add a HC based on qualifying. Yes people could sandbag but i don't think people will intentionally sand bag. This is not for a series type of thing. More of a one off race to try and keep the racing very tight.  Light hearted fun racing not serious at all. 
 

This is kind of like the races we did where you bring any car and we would qualify then go in to a two lap race in revers grid. The cars would then delay there start by 2x there time difference from the slowest qualified car. We had some great sprint races doing this in GT. In fact we should try this. I would shorten up the wait times between sessions to say 30-45 seconds and eliminate practice and have a 5-7 minut  qualifier.  I can put a bunch of cars in to the race. I could put any car in that people want to drive.  You could have double deck busses racing F1 cars. Do the math correctly and everyone ends up at start finish at the same time.  It sounds a bit hokey but is is great fun. 

I think I can get the CTR and GT86 fairly balanced, but we will need quite a bit more testing.  I could possibly get the S1 in the mix as well.

That would be an interesting, RWD, AWD, FWD mix.

Dont get me wrong, I'm all for just choosing a spec car and running with it.

I think we will mess around tonight with a couple things and then final testing to choose a series to start next week.

I am leaning towards something with the rx8, RX7, GT86 and the FTO and maybe the MX5. The MX5 is a problem child for me but I think it is a fast car that just does not fit my driving style.
