So for this series the above list of cars with the listed tires can be used. All other available tuning options for the cars can be used. This elevates the MX5 and the Abarth up to where they need to be. The street tires on the Mazdas and particularly the Audi will keep them in check.

My testing was with no tuning.  I was hoping to keep this as a non tuner series but many seem to want tuning. I just hope it does not give an advantage to a car that is not known now  as some cars respond well to tuning while others will always be junk no matter how much tuning you do

Swapping cars in the series is ok should you find a car is just not working for you.  I would suggest the we use the rule that the top three in the points can not swap cars. I think that has been a rule in the bast as it keeps the points leaders from swapping cars to gain an advantage on a track by track basis.  AKA Gaming the system.

The HC system will not be changed. I will use a 30 kg HC for each HC point.

Air can you lay out the rules for applying the HC and loosing HC points based on finishing position?

This is correct.  We will be starting at Sebring next week, the rest of them are TBD so any suggestions will be taken under consideration.

Are the final version of the cars and track(s) up on the drive?

Yes I also have this question.  When I hopped on last week for testing I couldn't find the RX7 or RX8.

I might jump on tonight and play around a bit.

Those cars were from my collection of stuff.  I still have many cars I downloaded that I have not looked at.

It occurred to me that at the midpoint of the season we could also mandate that the top three in points have to swap cars?

Another thing is I will not limit the number of the same cars.

If at the midpoint we find cars that are just to good (even with an HC) or we find one that is too bad we will consider adjustments to their baseline tune to pull them back in line.

One last thing. I know for some of you winning a race or a series is important.  Don't get me wrong winning is good but running off into the sunset and winning a race or the series by a big margin is not nearly as much fun as winning by fractions of a second.  And even better is If we can keep the whole field close.  Last night we had some really good racing while still using different cars and I really hope that carries over to the series. I am concerned that allowing tuning may negate this and this is why we will be looking at possible adjustments to the base cars as needed to deal with over or under-dogs.  I am always torn with this as some people don't have the time to spend tuning a car versus those that can spend hours working on a tune and the satisfaction of taking a car that is a dog and making it into something great.  I get it.  I think the answer is what Pro did with the Brad Mini-Series and greatly limit the tuning to what you would really adjust at a casual track day.  This may be the answer.

I have got to the point where I am more about close racing even if it is competing for last place.  So while I know I will probably irritate some people with the decisions we may make understand that it is about trying to cause the racing to be tight. This is why we have the HC system although we may have to implement a "Sauce Rule" as he seems to have some sort of superpower that makes him impervious to added weight. laugh

Anyway, just my ramblings as I am always looking for ways to make everyone competitive and promote close racing and hopefully make it more fun for everyone.

Sure.  You can lock tires in the server settings fyi.

Going to swap my PC guts over to a new case, and install a new monitor stand, then I'll jump on probably around 8:30ish

I think you can only set one type of tire for all the cars on the server.

Removing tires from a car model is super easy in Content Manager.

I don't know if I will be on. I am really sleepy. What I wanted to have you do is lock the cars tire types. I would assume you just remove all the other ones. .

The other thing I think that would be good is to put a prefix on the cars names that show up in the list do they are all grouped together and your tire changes don't over Wright the base care models in the game.  You can make up some acronym or something.

I wanted to see what adjustments you think we should actually leave on.  Tire pressure for sure but after that what else?

Sway bar?
Shocks?

what are the things that you would typically be adjusting at the track with a basic set of tools?

I am torn on camber and toe as while you could adjust it at the track (often did). I suspect that it is not all that common to do so on non race cars.

Another one is gearing as there are a couple cars that could use it but it is the poor gearing in some cars that keeps them in line with the other cars while other cars have good gearing that really don't need adjustment but they are under powered. Not sure what to do.

alignment, tire pressures at the low end  If more, then shocks and bars

I did some testing.  Savanna RX7 and Fiat coup need their windshield/cowl views fixed.  S1 is a complete turd on street tires.  On Semi Slicks its competitive, but after a lap or two the outside front is gone. Abarth 500 needs to be the "step 1" to even stand a chance, and even then it destroys the outside front.  Miata is great, just not powerful enough to keep up.  I think upgrading to a "ND2" spec would be helpful.  Even that likely wont close the gap.

The funny thing is I ran the fastest lap of any of the cars in the S1 on semi slicks. This is why I put it back to street tires. This puts it mid pack and the street tires don't melt. Ya it is a pig but it is a fast pig on the semi slicks.

The street tires definitely melt.

I think its good for a hero lap on slicks, but the more balanced cars will have an endrance advantage during any multi-lap race.

FWIW I was testing at Road Atlanta last night since I can hop in and do a decent lap right out of the gate in most car - enough to get a feel for how well they will work.  I'm hpapy to give it another go on street tires but... initial impressions were its hopeless.

I am thinking we need to come up with three test tracks for cars / series.

I was thinking WG, NB GP (long course but we could use the short)  And????

Something shorter / smaller.  Maybe one of the one lap tracks we used?

Autumn Ring seems like a good choice.  Very curvy track.

I am still going to use WGshort course. A big reason is I know it really well and the laps are relatively short. It is a good test of mid and fast corners and overall speed.

People need to think about choosing there car and can even specify a color from what is offered.

I updated the first post with he new series.  Car swaps are allowed if you don't finish first or 2nd like the first series.

I am wondering if we should flip this and REQUIRE a car swap if you finish 1st or 2nd?  Can't use the same car twice of course.
