I tried to get the 951 down to similar lap times as these cars and it is just to fast a car. So that one is out. I did however maybe find another group of cars that we can mess with at some point. I think we should look at race cars for the next round. May be a one make or see if we can do a GTE series or something.

I spent some time taking laps in the 86 last night. Weirdly, I don't have a very much experience at Sebring. A lot of last night was learning the track. I expect to be a back marker for the series again, but the 86 seems pretty easy to drive consistently. I'll still work on speed, but I'm not as practiced or experienced as the rest of the group. I'm not expecting any handicaps coming my direction.
A couple other random thoughts:
- The biggest difference between AC and GT7 from a physics perspective is braking. I'm sure it comes down to settings in AC, but I have to really press the pedal to get any force in AC. It is a lot more linear in GT7. That makes me a lot more consistent in GT7. In AC I feel like I only get good brake force in the last 20% of the pedal.
- The Brad Mini is roughly the same pace as the Street Car pack on the drive, but harder to drive.
- I got a new phone. Normally this wouldn't be anything worth noting, but my new phone doesn't have a headphone jack so my wired headset won't work with it. My headset also only has 1 jack for both speaker and mic, my PC has them separate so I can have sound but not talk. All of this makes talking to you jokers on Discord a challenge for tonight. You'll probably end up on speaker phone and mute until I solve this problem financially.

You don't have discord on the PC?
The brakes are pretty easy to adjust in CM. Go to Settings / Assetto Corsa / Controls and you can change both the range of the brake pedal and the sensitivity (Gamma). Mine are set weird because I have one of those pressure sensor conversions so it has a strange activation range.

He does, but his headphones have only a single port which isnt compatible with his PC.
That said, brad, check your PC audio settings, some audio setups allow you to reconfigure ports, you may be able to tell it "I have a 2 in 1" and have it adjust.

There were many things I liked about GT. In fact once we figuared out the performance points system we had so much fun with it. I paid good $$$ for the last version of GT and it completely sucked. I tried to like it but after a couple hours trying to like it I realized I would rather watch paint dry. The physics on it made it basically not playable. Also I have no interest in grinding for cash to get cars and all the other useless junk. I don't need a course in car appreciation either. I wish they would let me pay say $100 for the game and it is all unlocked. I know how to sim race. GT needs to realize that and let the experienced sim racers just race. If they put half the effort in to the actual game physics and what not and not all the useless junk it could be the best game ever.
EDIT: why is it the GT seems to recycle and enhance the worst aspects of there game.

Not to derail the thread completely, but GT7 does still gatekeep the content. That said, it's not too bad. By the time I was done with the "Menus" I had around 100 cars and millions of credits. There's a few races that can rake up more credits pretty quickly (~1.5M/hour), so you can get cars and mods pretty quick. The AI is terrible, but the game is good. I just need Dean to host weekly races on it so I don't have to. :)
Sony also randomly selected me to buy a PS5 today, so I went ahead and added a new shiny BT headset. It'll be here next week.
Latest addition. I suspect you can figure out who's car this is. I still need to package these together for download before tonight

Car pack is uploaded:

And.... I've been called into work... maybe I'll make it or maybe not...
Great racing everyone!!! These cars seem to be close in times. For some reason the Audi was not the king of speed we thought it was going to be. I may look at swapping out. The FTO may be an option or maybe join Air on team Mazda. The RX7 seems to have great strait line speed.
Definitely a lot of close and clean racing (apart from the one televised and replayed incident). The lap times for most of the field were really close, should be a good series.

One thing I will be curious about is how the HC affects the cars on street tires. They are much less forgiving than the semi-slicks and don't tolerate sliding basically at all, it'll be interesting to see if the HC exacerbates that effect at all.

The incident was not Pros fault. It was a case of two very different cars trying to race together. I was the king of speed but had to slow down early and then power on at turn in. Pro was in a car that you braked as late as possible and caried as much speed through the corner. We just met in the middle. Both of us could have made adjustments to avoid the contact but we are both competitive people. He most likely did not think I was going to slow that much and take that tight a line and I did not think he was going to be able to brake that late and put his car that far up the inside of the corner.
In short a racing thing.
I should have taken the defensive line and closed the door sooner and forced him to take the long way around. I kind of left the door open for him to do what he did. I would have done the same thing he did had I been in his position.
I knew you were going to slow down way early and that was my chance to pass, but the crazy tight line caught me off guard and I locked up the wheels initiating a slide. I'm pretty sure a real race steward would not rule in my favor :)

Kinda to the point of my last post, the street tires have no real room for adjustment after you commit to your line and speed into a corner. If you got it wrong or have to adjust for another driver the tires just don't do it, they have a hard drop if you exceed the grip limit. Case in point: how far Dean went after the contact. The bump wasn't super hard but pushed his car over the grip limit and at that point it didn't matter what he did, he was going for a ride. And because the grip falls off so much it doesn't really scrub speed, you just keep sliding.
That is very true. Once you commit to a line through a corner deviating is not usually an option. With the Audi being a heavy car you also have a momentum thing in that once it is going in a direction changing the trajectory is not a simple thing.
Just a racing thing. I chose the Audi knowing this. I was just stoked that it looks like the cars are all reasonably matched and I hope the HC will do the rest so we have close racing.

Yeah, I wasn't saying it wasn't a racing incident, I'm just calling attention to the lack of mid-corner adjustment available to some of the cars as an FYI for the people on semi-slicks. Racing side by side requires both parties to make adjustments but those will be limited on the ST cars.
I'll mention it here, but as noted in Discord, some of the GRM versions of the cars for this week do not work. The MX5 specifically. Its littered with errors and wont start.

What track are we running this week? The rest of the series?
The rest of the tracks for the series are stuck in Drillins head. He chooses and releases them at his leisure.
Regarding the cars, yes, I made duplicate folders to keep try and make a unique set of cars for the series to make it easier for Dean to setup on the server. That apparently does not work at all, created errors for all the cars. Some sort of reference thing. I think the set on the server now is he non-livery, original folder versions, versions, which should all work: Season 6 Orig cars
I will just add the liveries to the original cars and base car folders and upload that update before the race. Is there any suspicion putting custom liveries in base cars will cause any issues? I would not think it would be considered a modified car for online purposes, but I don't know (I am not sure anyone is doing that anyway).
Yeah CMP this week.
For the following weeks so it's official:
Atlanta Motosports Park
Watkins Glen
Circuit Mont-Tremblant
Mosport
Nelson Ledges
Road America
Thunderhill
Hallett Motor Racing Circuit
That will get us through a 10 week series with a rough theme of "one lap of North America".
Like the list!!!
I will make it official. I will put up a GRM T-shirt for the Winner. Not sure exactly what one it will be at the moment but we can sort that out later.
Edit it could also be a hat as they are similar cost wise
