In case anyone was wondering, you can recharge the cores for your power armor so long as you don't let them run out all the way. I've been using the reactor in the basement of the museum in Concord to recharge them from nearly dead.

Do you have to worry about them getting stolen? Probably not. I just read that if you leave the core in the suit, raiders will/can jump in them.
In reply to RossD:
No clue on that one, and a good idea for me to go back and check my t-45b armor.....as I left a sub 1% core in it last night....lol
The game is downloading now. I'm saving a major upgrade until next year, but I did set myself up with an Geforce GTX 970. Once the download is done, the GPU swap happens.
Who designed this bullE36 M3 berkeleyed up UI? Why can't I remap keys the way I want them to be? Tweaking settings like that is why I play on the PC in the first place. Now I'm going to have to wait until a mod comes out or Bethesda fixes this crap.
In reply to WOW Really Paul?:
I tried it last night and I couldn't interact with it at all. No prompts or any actions.
In reply to RossD:
Yea, I don't get that. I got it to work once, then it wouldn't again.
So I did the next logical thing and cleared out the entire inventory of everyone in Diamond City using essentially the Gun Runner's glitch from New Vegas....
15 hours into the game, and here are my discoveries:
INT isn't nearly as important as it was in prior Fallout games
A well modded pipe rifle can carry you through the early game fairly easily
You spend a lot of your time literally collecting trash. I'm surprised Bethesda didn't include an ironic CalTrans orange vest.
Throwing grenades is clunky.
My game crashes like clockwork every hour. Sometimes it crashes to the desktop, sometimes it bluescreens. Good to see Bethesda is staying true to form.
I have yet to utilize the powersuit, aside from the quest where you obtain it initially
High ground doesn't seem to grant you any bonus hit % in VATS. Raiders seem to be able to hit you at will the minute you pop your head over the edge of a cliff.
I am 8 hours in or so.
I agree with most of the above.
I am also on PC with zero crashes running old hardware on med to high settings.
Sorry for your experience.
WOW Really Paul? wrote: In reply to calteg: PC I presume? No issues to report here at 24hrs into the Xbox version.
Yup, on PC. But I'm running it on an old PC\Mobo combination that's overclocked within an inch of its life. Not really surprised about the instability.
Logging too much time into this. So far no big glitches, freezes, or major failures from my PS4. Building and maintaining settlements takes up far too much of my time, but once they're maxed out, I won't have to do much. I hope so, anyway. The effort put into just creating this world is amazing. The people at Bethesda should be very proud. I need to go level up.
Over 30 hours logged since Tuesday, and I'm loving it. Even playing on the lowly XBONE, I've only had one instance where the game crashed (during the pretty intense battle at the Castle) and that was after the system had been on for about 16 hours straight.
I really enjoy getting lost in the crafting and basebuilding aspects of the game. I also appreciate the fact that you can just kind of ignore this if you want. It's like being able to recommend Forza to someone who's just "kinda" into cars. Anyone can have fun with it, but there are all sorts of extra tweaks to make and details to obsess over as you get more and more involved.
I'm coming to my classic "first build" conundrum though. I've already made several crucial mistakes early on, and wouldn't throw away that much work if I just restarted...but I don't really feel like that's in the spirit of the game.
In reply to Tactical Penguin:
I only wished I had added far more charisma from the get go.....although, I now have 6 sets of power armor just chilling 5(2 t-45c's, 1 t-45b, 1 raider II, and 1 t-51a) at sanctuary and the sixth(t-51b set) is chilling at the Cambridge PD where the BoS are still at. Not bad for a level 16.
Power armor, bah, I am ninja!
Focusing mostly on INT and AGL, stealth kills are the best.
As for the settlement building, I'm not a huge fan, have been doing as little of it as possible.
Dunno if it's any better on a computer, but the interface is clunky on the XBONE.
In reply to SnowMongoose:
Sanctuary has turrets EVERYWHERE now......I had to kill a raider out of my raider II armor as I had accidentally left a 1% power core in it.

Your first playthrough is just to have fun with. Bear in mind that FO4 doesn't have a level cap, so theoretically you can max out your stats on every playthrough...given enough time.
After I've put some points into PER, VATS has become much more useful. Headshots are becoming a more frequent occurrence.
So I've been reading reddit threads about Fallout 4 and have been gleaming lots of good hints and tips.

Me too, to answer our question: Someone claims that fast travel doesn't use juice in the Power Armor. I haven't verified but it has been said.
In reply to singleslammer:
It doesn't, overall time spent moving(varies on your perk selections) and sprinting in power armor drains the core.
I don't worry about it as I have over 40 charged cores on me now.
I scored a t-60 setup(less legs) down by the Boston Mayoral Bunker last night, I now have a total of 9 sets of power armor....
For anyone starting off, I suggest a high charisma so you can speech check your way out of everything.
I just figured out how to link settlements last night. It's making development a lot easier; I was carrying around a ton of supplies between places before.
If I had known how important Charisma was, and that power armor was available so early, I would have put less points into strength at the start.

That's the beauty of Fallout, there's multiple ways to do everything. I have low base charisma, but add in a few tiers of Black Widow, plus this +3 Charisma dress I found, and speech checks are no problem.
I'm level 20 and haven't used the power armor at all, except for that first time you find it.
Protip: There's a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book near your babies' crib at your house in Sanctuary.
