IS line starts at the kv-1, moves to the kv-1s and then onto the IS and on up to the IS7... the only turkey in the line is the is-8... the tier8 is3 is one of the most favored tanks in competitive play... great line.

for the t-82... like mentioned it is paper... and has limited gun traverse... play it from a good distance back from cover (aka hide in bushes)... the derp is fun but the 57mm will pen everything you see especially if you carry a few premium rounds for those well angled kv1 tanks... the derp is far more difficult to use effectively at distance because of how slow the round travels... in general tier3 TDs are the few that can reliably pen the tier5 tanks they'll see, but they have very low hit points so it's all about learning the art of how to stay back and not seen while still having a line for shooting the enemy...

t-28 is one of the best tanks in tier... but it has a very high skill lvl required to play it... but it is very very mobile, has a gun that will do great DPM (damage per min) with great penetration; in fact it's the same gun I've used in tier6 scout tanks quite effectively... obviously the tank itself is the size of a barn and has wet cardboard armor... but it really teaches you how to effectively get around the map without being seen to put that gun into action...

it IS a very frustrating tank to learn to use... but if you can learn to play it well you'll do very well down the road with higher tier meds

I had some great rounds with the t-28, then played like gods hammer with the derp kv-1.

Forgetting you're in a Locust instead of an AMX ELC, playing an entire round as if you don't have a full turret.
berkeley.

One of the problems I have been encountering is I rarely come up against another tier IV. I have the tier V 57mm gun mounted and it penetrates almost everything but does little damage. It works great if I sit back and snipe, and, truthfully given the choice between the 57mm equipped T28 and the 76mm equipped Sherman, I'd more often than not pick the T-28. Far fewer bounced shots. Slap on the ol' Derp, though and I'll opt for the Sherman...then I'll get frustrated by the rate of fire and mount the 76...then I'm frustrated by the bouncy bullets...then I say berkeley this game and don't play it for a week.

Time to get one-shotted.

if you run a derp you shoot HE... carry maybe a few shots of HEAT for things you know you can pen with it and that is it

My favorite part about the one that pen well is being able to set tanks on fire, KV drivers get oh so very mad when I light them on fire....twice, with my Matilda

Only happens if I get lit up by a flak bus or su-100......and the jumbo & fury seem immune to that fate. My tier 5 pair of the e4 and m4 suffer it though.

I cracked a lobby up last night, 4 of us left, 3 on the enemy team, I was the only one able to get back to defend the base from their remaining 3.......a minute & a half later, the remaining 3 teammates joined me chanting "KV-2 ain't nothing to berkeley with" all the way through the score screen......it really is the Wu Tang Clan of the tank world. I was laughing at the poor unsuspecting seals though....I knocked out the Nashorn first, the t1 heavy second, and the jumbo Sherman (who gave me steel wall) third. They didn't find me until I was ready to fire the second time. LoL

too bad that 70% of what does hit me knocks out a track

Which do you guys like best for the KV-1, 122mm or 90mm (edit: 85mm)?

kv-1 is slow... gets better with top engine and tracks make an even bigger difference... learn to angle and side scrape with it.

as for guns... the 85mm for pubs... the 122mm is trash due to very long reload.... the 57mm is also a very viable gun if you are willing to sling some prem rounds... it is the favored gun for competitive play.

I am a fan of the 85mm. Like most Russian derps, the 122mm has an aiming time you can use a sundial for and even then the accuracy is measure in broadside of a barn. Also the reloading time is horribly slow. My buddy and I have absolutely rolled other teams in two KV1s, right down the middle with a bit of support from some other tanks and you are a monster.

In reply to donalson:

The 85mm on the kv1 isn't the good 85, I recommend the 122 derp with a shell rammer, gun laying drive, and the intuition perk. Carry an even loadout of both types of ammo and get into the habit of switching ammo types as soon as you fire.....you sometimes get rewarded with an instant reload which is epic at trolling people. That combination has served me quite well since the Soviets were added to the Xbox version.

ah the 85mm was far more reliable on the pc... the 57mm has massive DPM and great premium round pen... the derp was super unreliable, very poor gun handling and low DPM...

on a side note... bought my 3rd tier9 today thanks to the sale... need to grind some credits so I can buy another tank while things are on sale... sadly it won't be the tier10 I have researched... 6 million creds is just too much right now lol.

In reply to donalson:

I used the 57mm for a little bit, and said "Oh well berkeley this" after losing head to head fights with Churchill 1, and T1 heavy tanks....the 85mm was about the same, but required massive spamming of gold rounds. Sure, if you're after only counter medium/TD either of those might work, but the 122 is required for 1v1 heavy fights IMHO and makes easy work of everything lesser.

Other than switching tanks to something with armor or spending more time hiding, any tips on how to keep from getting tracked (and summarily blown up) in the ELC?
I feel like I avoid most of the shots, but almost everything that does tag me leaves me dead in the water.

Pro tip: don't ever trust your teammates to do intelligent things.
Watched my team part like the red sea to allow three enemy light tanks to run directly up the middle, murder Snow playing arty, then stroll back to their own base.
wat.
