I hate this Vmax listing on craigslist

It's killing me. I so want it, I can so taste it.

And my job is so up in the air. True, I'm probably not going to lose it, but a whole lot of people here will be very shortly, and it's no guarantee I won't be one of them.

But it's only three grand.

And I can't figure out how to hide it at home without my wife finding it.

I'll know for sure in a few weeks if my job is still safe, at least for another year. Maybe it'll still be up for sale by them.

Sigh...

Nice bike, seemingly nice price.

I've been thinking about a Vmax as well, but then I remember how much they weigh. And then my brain replays the sound they make. Sigh.

I keep not buying it, it keeps not selling on criagslist. It even recently showed up on e-bay for three grand, and still didn't sell.

Is there something obvious that I'm not seeing? For I think it should have sold long ago.

I double hate it because in a most unusual move, my wife has been pretty adamant that I should not spend money on this with a shaky job and a house that needs a fair amount of work (hate it when she's right).

I see bidding has ended with no bids. Offer 'em $2500 and then go buy it. You'd be crazy not to.

$3k doesn't seem like a killer deal to me. it is a 18 year old bike with almost 40k miles. they also made the bike with almost zero changes for something like 62 years.

Yea, that price isnt all that......if it was. the bike would have been sold. I had a '92 model that has 15k less on the odo. I sold it for $3200 back in 04 w/ custom paint and new tires. Its an awesome bike but not practiacal at all. Very heavy and terrible fuel mileage......but it was badass. My first streetbike

Even if it's a great deal, it still seems like a bit of a kooky bike. Stuck somewhere in between a cruiser and a standard, I can't imagine if having very broad appeal.

Mr. Max's motor writes a lot of checks his brakes and chassis can't cash. "Muscle bike" is an appropriate term in that respect.

I asked a friend about his the other day, asked him how it corners. His reply: "15 mile commute, three corners. Bike is PERFECT."

All I know is that they ran a pullout ad in 1985 that hung on my wall for years, and I still want one.
