Neat. I see a lot of these around my town, usually not nearly as well done as yours appears to be.
Had any trouble with the rear wheel? We get them coming through our shop (bicycle shop) pretty frequently with broken spokes, due to the extra load on what's typically a cheap wheel.
In reply to Luke:
Yes on the rear wheel. I am going t change mine to a disc brake wheel and attach the sprocket where the disc brake would go.
That looks awesome!Do I spy home made front forks? Bike looks great especially with the seat moved back like that.

Engine is a kit from ebay. I don't remember the seller, but it is not Spook Tooth. Spooky Tooth has some nice stuff though. The goal with this project was low cost. The front end was based off the need to get better brakes and cool looking design. One thing I quickly realized was that the vbrakes were not enough. I tried better brake pads, and that helped a bit but still was not a good experience.
I will do a custom tank. I hate the kit's fuel tank. It looks too "stuck-on"
This one is mine.
It's a 1941 Schwinn.
Torn down at the moment to change the engine to a 4 cycle. It's a hoot to ride and draws a lot of comments.

Flip the handlebars and put white treaded tires on it
What 4 cycle are you putting on that bike Toyman? I read that as 4 cylinder at first and was frightened.
What are the rules on these things? Do you need your motorcycle endorsement on your license? Are they accept on bike trails?
Its different everywhere. Check with the DMV. Around here they would defiantly not be accepted on bicycle trails.
I have an old Smith's Motorwheel that I'm restoring to put on an old vintage style bike, problem is someone that had mounted it somewhere over time lost the bracket to attach it to the frame. I was able to get the parts list and printed diagrams for installation from Briggs who had ultimately bought Smiths out. Now I just need to get the bracket made, it was a cast piece but I'm thinking it can be made up in billet.
The laws are all over the place depending on the state. Here they need to go through the WSP (washington state highway patrol) to get a vin, but I have not done that. I don't really use it for transportation. It was mostly just a fun project,
The irony is that if it were electric I could treat it like normal bike. Ride on bike paths, trails etc. The gas engine is what make it a motor vehicle
I ride and have not been stopped by the cops. Some states you don't need to do anything
