Edit: Could someone change the Title to read Price check? These darn keys are too close together.

A guy at work has had a 1982 BMW R-65 for 20 years or so. It's black, flashy little fairing, snowflake wheels and hard bags.

He hasn't ridden it in 3 years, and now that I have more projects than time, he's looking to sell it. The battery is still in it and because I'm such an optomist, I'll assume it was put away with gas in the tank and carbs.

He asked me what he should ask for it, I suggested $2,000.

Too much?

That's an R65LS, a more rare and slightly more desirable model. They're slow, but they're cool in an '80s Germanic way. The same designer, Hans Muth, did the original Suzuki Katana GSX1100; you can see some shared design DNA.

Anything needed to get it running again will be readily available, usually straight from BMW.

At $2k it will probably find an optimistic airhead enthusiast. They'll probably beat him up on the price a little but for its non-running-ness, but not too much. They're not making any more of them, after all.
