So Im thinking about getting back on 2 again. Not really sure what I want, just a fun bike, cheap(ish) bike.

Been jonesin for a PC800 for years but not finding anything that works for me right now.

This little toy popped up locally and I gotta admit its a bit tempting.

Anyone with any experience or knowledge of these care to chime in? Most of my knowledge/experience is with older dirtbikes and harleys. Actually I guess most of my dirtbikes were 70s era Japanese bikes so this should feel at home.

I'm interested as well. The CB fours are all over the place and must make good power, right? I'm just not sure how easy getting all the carbs running correctly would be.

They make decent power, getting the carbs running correctly isn't too hard. They are fun bikes.

Any known issues I should be looking for? Or you could just bring your SV out to Philly and fly home ;) But then you'd have to watch me and Sonic roshambo each other for it.

Very nice vintage bike. I'd take a long hard look at the mods, but they're quite solid bikes as stock. Parts a-plenty. If you like fours (I don't, but to each his own), hard to go wrong with a SOHC CB750.

I'm not sure of any common issues. I only had mine for a few weeks, aside from blowing smoke like a 2-stroker from 85k miles it ran great.

If you buy me a return ticket I may ride it out for you, I've already ridden it there once

Might be doable, if you are serious let me know what timeframe you were thinking of so I can check fares ;) Gonna be heading out of town the week of the 16-20th but otherwise....

I'd throw in some gas and tolls money too of course.

Bendy 1960s frame (engine is faster than the chassis) unless that's been addressed. Single front disc is like all Honda single front disks - pretty lethal in the rain, the pivot seizes and then they just become pretty lethal.

When they're looked after properly, they can go for huge mileages, but you have to keep changing the oil per schedule. Cam in these runs directly in the head (no bearing shells IIRC) and you can guess what dirty oil does in those cases. Oh, and the words "Honda camchain tensioner" should be mentioned, and not in a positive way.

Thanks for the heads up on that but Im looking for a non-project. Got enough projects, bike is for when the projects get on my nerves, I can just hop on and get in the wind for awhile.

You'll need to log in to post.
