Hey guys, my uncles stranded in Spokane Valley, WA with hid Harley. the dealer wants 2400 to fix the busted transmission.

So what options does he have to get him and his bike back to Calgary AB for less then 1500.

Bummer, what is the nature of the failure? Year and model?

Checking with my mover.

Looks like uhaul will rent a 10ft box truck for $530 between those two points, fuel works out to ~$150.

U Haul +++ Grinding when shifting sounds like a clutch issue.

It's a constant mesh/dog box transmission. Grinding is probably not the clutch in this case. For a transmission, I think I'd probably U-Haul it or buy a $1000 truck, although for minor engine problems, I handle it this way:

Find the local one percenter shop rather than the dealer and see what they say?

Btw, the mind 2000s big twins seem to have some issues with the gear change linkage, make sure that's not the problem.

Failing all that, UHaul.

If that picture is showing a "minor" engine problem, you need to buy a Honda.

Is it me or does Dr Hess look a little like Stephen King??
