The Pinacle of Monterey Car Week | Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Story by Alan Galbraith

The 2021 Pebble Beach Concours welcomed the returning crowds to the hallowed fairways of the Pebble Beach Golf course on August 15. The yearlong hiatus was well worth the wait, as the automobiles on display topped previous years' offerings in quality and variety.

A special class of previous best of show winners featured the best full classics and the occasional postwar example of the carmaker’s craft.

One could look back in time to see the rapidly approaching future of automotive propulsion with the Early Electrics class, which featured electric cars from the turn of the century and teens.

Motorsport was well represented with a class of previous Pebble Beach Road Race-winning cars and over a dozen Porsche 917s.

Prewar elegance won the hearts of the judges, as Artuo Keller’s 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn Kurier took home the prestigious best of show honors.
