As we saw coming out of the January auctions in Scottsdale, momentum continues through the auctions at Amelia Island, Florida with packed houses, enthusiastic crowds and educated buyers. The average price paid grew by 8 percent over last year. RM increased their sales by 30 percent while Gooding topped their 2013 results by more than 10 percent.
Records were again broken at all price levels and the middle market vehicles continue to bring good money, including a 1955 Volkswagen Beetle ($82,500 at RM Auctions), 1971 Mini Moke ($49,500 at RM Auctions) and 1968 Datsun 1600 ($50,600 at Gooding & Company).
The top sale of the weekend was marked by the 1939 Delahaye 135 Competition Court Torpedo Roadster by Figoni et Falaschi from the collection of the late Malcolm Pray that sold for $6,600,000 at RM Auctions, setting a marque record as well as a record for a car sold at Amelia Island.

These reports consist of the raw results as witnessed by Hagerty during the live auctions and may not include every post-sale “off the block” transaction.
