2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed Day 1: Here’s what’s running today

Today, July 11, marks the first day of the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Here’s a rundown of everything making a run up the iconic hill today.


After the traditional opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m., the first batch of cars from the “Horseless to Hybrid: Evolution of Revolution” class will make their runs. Spanning the from late 1800s to the early 1960s, cars in this class include a Salvesen Steam Wagonette, the Fiat S76 “Beast of Turin,” Bugatti Type 35B, Auto Union Type 52 and the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Spyder known as “The Whale.”

Next up at 10:30 a.m. is First Glance presented by heycar class, comprised of some of the latest and greatest new cars available like the Aston Martin DBX 707, Audi RS e-Tron GT Performance, BYD Seal U DM-I, Honda Prelude concept and three cars from the Genesis Magma Program.

Following closely at 11:10 a.m. is the supercar class which, as you might have guessed already, features supercars new and old like the Aston Martin Valiant (set to be driven by two-time F1 champ Fernando Alonso), Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, Ford Mustang GTD, Pagani Hyayra Epitome and the yet-to-be-unveiled Red Bull RB17.

The Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows aerobatic team will make their first appearance at 11:45 a.m. in the skies over Goodwood, with several legendary race cars highlighting the triumph of Joest Racing, Niki Lauda and Mercedes-Benz–supplemented by some iconic drift cars–taking to the hill at 12:55.

At 2:00 p.m., MG gets its moment in the limelight in front of the Goodwood House as the car maker celebrates 100 years.

The first batch of Formula 1 cars as well as the Isle of Man TT bikes then take to the hill at 2:20 p.m.

To finish of today’s celebrations, cars from 1970 up to 2024 leave the start line at 5:20 p.m.
