Is that Erik Estrada in that final photo? Indeed, it was.

A 30-minute drive for six miles? Would it be worth it? It was, and then some for the 7th annual Porsche Monterey Classic.
After parking the car 15 minutes away, we risked navigating a crowded Costco parking lot to arrive at Porsche Monterey. There, we witnessed how car culture during Monterey Car Week is on another plane.
DJs played tunes from across the spectrum of the 76 years the company has offered cars with the Porsche badge on them. Food trucks, mixologists, winemakers, jewelers, watchmakers and artists shared space with parts purveyors and detailers. There was even a silent auction, with items such as Porsche watches. However, the cars were of course the stars of the show.
Every era of Porsche was represented, with all generations seemingly to attract onlookers.
The star of the show had the be the 917, chassis No. 032, which was fired up inside the dealership. The sound of the 12-cylinder engine drew many of those outside into the showroom.
People of all sorts attended the event, but there were especially a large number of kids who clearly enjoyed beautiful cars on a beautiful evening on the Pacific Coast, which makes an aging classic car enthusiast hopeful for the future of the hobby we all love.
