Blink and you just might miss it.
Between January 7 and January 19, Mecum is auctioning off 4500 vehicles. (For those keeping score at home, that’s roughly 346 cars a day.)
While picking favorites from that many cars is no small task, here are five auctions we’ll be watching–but less us know which auction lots are your favorite.
1970 Porsche 917K - January 18
Here’s the very rare opportunity to own an iconic race car piloted by an iconic driver in one of the most iconic racing movies ever made.
This Porsche 917K served as the hero car during the filming of “Le Mans,” with Steve McQueen driving the car in many of film’s race sequences.
The car didn’t retire from the fast life after filming wrapped, however. Instead, the Porsche continued to be campaigned under several different stewards.
1967 Shelby 427 Competition Cobra Roadster - January 18
A fire-breathing Cobra? This Shelby–CSX3009–earned the nickname “Ollie the Dragon” because of its tendency to shoot fire out its hood scoop.
CSX3009 also goes down in history as one of the most winningest 427 Cobras ever, securing several on-track victories, including the 1967 National USRRC Championship as well as the 1973 and 1974 SCCA National Championships.
You can even look the part behind the wheel, as this Cobra comes with Ed Lowther’s original helmet, race suit and gloves from 1967.
1966 Porsche 910-001 - January 18
The chance to own the first Porsche 910 ever made, or a race car driven by Niki Lauda? This Porsche 910 offers both opportunities in one package.
The desirability doesn’t end there, however, as this Porsche is one of only 12 short-tail versions made and one of just six examples registered for road use.
Today, the Porsche 910 remains in largely original condition and is accompanied by an FIA Historical Technical Passport and current FIA racing paperwork.
1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Trans-Am Race Car - January 18
One of two Camaro Trans-Am race cars driven by Mark Donohue crossing the Mecum Kissimmee auction block, this example is most famous for being the car that secured he very first Trans-Am win for both Roger Penske and Chevrolet.
The Camaro would later spend a stint in Europe, where it would win several races in Austria and Germany in 1968 and 1969.
While the Chevy racer would sit disassembled and abandoned for some 35 years, it was later brought back to the U.S. in 2016 for a full restoration.
1967 Jaguar "Shaguar" E-type - January 18
Consider this one the wildcard of our selection.
Wheras the other four picks are notable race cars driven by some of the most legendary drivers in history, this E-type’s fame–or perhaps notoriety–comes from the silver screen.
Better known as the “Shaguar,” this Jag was used in all three Austin Powers movies, and later appeared in Madonna's “Beautiful Stranger” music video as well as the occasional Jaguar Land Rover corporate event.

I had the 917 AFX car. I think many of us did. I had the red one.
As an AFX car, it was the same size as the others, including the Camaro and Corvettes.
The first time I saw a 917K in real life, I guess I was a little surprised so see how tiny it was....
