MINI Celebrates 60 Years with the “MINI 60 Years Edition”

MINI turns 60 Years Old, and to celebrate, the marque has debuted a special edition package for the MINI 3 Door and 5 Door. Most notable of the “MINI 60 Years Edition” are exclusive design features including unique 17-inch wheels, a smattering of “60 Years” markings on both the exterior and interior, “60 Years” puddle lights when you open the driver and passenger doors, and Dark Maroon leather seats with green piping. Other options included, but not exclusive to this edition, are LED headlights, LED rear lights, and MINI Driving Modes.

Despite all those additions, the running gear in the MINI 60 Years Edition is exactly the same as what you would find on a base model Cooper or Cooper S: 134 horsepower and 162 ft.-lbs. of torque or 189 horsepower and 207 ft.-lbs., respectively, being sent to the front wheels either through your choice of 6-speed manual or automatic. Although the exclusive options do add to the overall appearance of the car, this special edition is much more of an appearance package than anything else. There is no trick suspension or big brakes, just a MINI you can already get with a few exclusive aesthetic options.

Is the MINI 60 Years Edition not worth it, or are you a sucker for exclusive features—even if they don’t add to the performance? Tell us what you think in the comments.
