Does AC Cars have a more affordable model on the horizon?

Starting with the 2026 model year, a new engine will be available in the AC Cobra GT Roadster and Cobra GT Coupe.

Intended to be an “exciting entry point” into AC Cars ownership, the new engine option will join the naturally aspirated and supercharged V8s currently available.

Details are limited at the moment–AC plans to make an official announcement sometime next year–but what we do know is that the new engine will have a displacement of 2 liters and is being developed in conjunction with “a global leader in hybrid and internal combustion powertrain solutions.”

As for the number or configuration of the cylinders in the new engine, no official information has been offered yet.

This is a key step in our programme of growth, yet allows us to stay true to what define us,” announced David Conza, CEO of AC Cars. “Offering clients a wider choice of performance engines will broaden the appeal for our exclusive sports cars, and means we can reach the markets that impose higher taxation of large displacement engines.”

AC Cars further explains that a dual-clutch transmission will be available “alongside a six-speed manual option” starting in 2026–potentially signaling that the 10-speed automatic currently offered will be phased out.

AC Notes that final pricing will be confirmed at a later date, but does expect the 2025 Cobra GT Roadster and GT Coupe to start at around £235,000, or approximately $294,444 USD.
