When Don Yenko set out to build a Chevrolet to compete in road racing, he skipped over the Corvette and instead chose the Corvair. Naturally, the race cars were more than just stripped-out Corvairs, as they required a number of modifications to meet the day's SCCA Class D regulations. As part of those regulations, 100 homologation models had to be built—though as many as 185 were produced in total.
This 1966 Chevrolet Corviar Yenko Stinger is one of those 185 cars, and it's reported to be a Stage II model good for around 190 horsepower. (Versions tuned for 160, 220 and 240 horsepower were also available.)
Reported to be in “show quality condition throughout,” this Stinger is currently showing 6142 miles on its odometer and comes finished in white with body-length blue striping.
