Noted as the “brainchild” of a meeting between Andrea Zagato and Netherlands Lancia importer Paul Koot, the Lancia Hyena Zagato was based on the Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione and modified to make anywhere from 250 to 300 horsepower. The listing notes that a limited production of 500 was planned, but only 24 in total were ever completed.
This 1994 Lancia Hyena Zagato is one of those 24 examples, finished in a bright shade of green paint known as Verde Zagato. Like the Delta upon which it is based, the Hyena is powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged inline-four that sends its power to all four wheels.
Of particular note on this model is the absence of the Hyena script on either side of the car. Instead, the signature of Elio Zagato is on one side, with his brother Gianni’s signature on the other.
Said to have been “known by its current owner from new,” this Hyena has lived its entire life in Germany and has reportedly been driven less than 8950 kilometers (approximately 5561 miles) since new. Plus, the original owner’s manual, a sales brochure, a tool kit and two sets of keys are all included in the sale.
This 1994 Lancia Hyena Zagato will go across the block in RM Sotheby’s upcoming Open Roads online-only auction.
