What is the best way to make a car go faster? Colin Chapman had a unique approach that still holds true today: “Simplify, then add lightness.” Naturally, perhaps there is no car that better personifies that idea than the original Lotus 7.
This 1957 Lotus 7 Series One is not only a real Lotus 7, but it is also said to be the eighth example ever built.
Finished with an aluminum body over a black interior, this 7 has been modified for historic racing with a fuel cell, a remote fire system, and Schroth racing harness, among other modifications.
Power comes from a 1460cc Coventry Climax FWB that is reported to have been built by Hutton Motor Engineering in Clarksville Tennessee.
Eligible for historic racing and rally events, documentation that includes receipts, records and manuals are included, as well as a complete front disc brake conversion kit.
Find this 1957 Lotus 7 Series One for sale over at Wire Wheel Classic Sports Cars for $55,900.
