Alpina may get most of the love when it comes to classic BMWs tuned by a third-party, but Merzig, Germany-based Hartge also deserves some attention. Like Alpina, Hartge upgrades stock BMWs by either dropping in a bigger engine into a smaller car or upgrading the factory engine with a number of go-fast bits.
This 1987 Hartge H26 is an example of what happened when the Germany tuning firm got its hands on a BMW 325i. The car features a number of aesthetic upgrades like a unique body kit, Hartge badging and exclusive wheels specially made by BBS.
Not all the upgrades were for looks, however, as powering this H26 is a M20B25 inline-six rebuilt by Hartge to push out around 190 horsepower.
The listing reports that the car currently has 75,000 miles on its odometer, and states that this H26 “looks and presents well without any obvious rust present.” As well, it is said that the car was built in West Germany and then imported to Japan before it was eventually shipped here to the United States—though the exact time spent in each location in unknown.
Find this 1987 Hartge H26 for sale through eBay Motors for a Buy It Now price of $35,000.
