When let loose in stage rally, the Audi Quattro changed the way many car makers built their rally cars, scrambling to find a way to send power to all four wheels instead of just two of them. Hitting its peak just as Group B was scrapped, it can be said that the Quattro may not have been possible had it not been for the much more docile Audi Coupe.
This 1987 Audi Coupe GT is one such car, powered by a naturally aspirated, 2.2-liter inline-five good for more than 130 horsepower and 130 lb.-ft. of torque. That power is then sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
Finished in Jet Black over a Gray interior, this particular Coupe GT is said to be a “super clean & very original survivor” with a reported 89,000 miles on the odometer. The car does feature a few aftermarket accessories such as a custom Auto Meter gauge cluster and an Alpine head unit with Focal speakers.
Among the items included in the sale are the original owner’s manual, jack and tools. As well, the listing notes that the Audi has received “brand new brakes, tires, filters & fluids.”
