Classic Motorsports Car Catcher: Rally Sunbeam

We’re going to spend the rest of this week featuring “Car Catcher” entries from our own back yard: Central Florida. That means very little rust and some very interesting abandoned builds.

Up first is this very interesting 1961 Sunbeam Alpine. it still bears the decals from road rallies many years in the past and is reportedly completely original, though in need of a little love. However, it does run and drive. The seller is asking for $7500, not an outrageous number for a Mk I Alpine.

I like! And how appropriate. My first car was a '61 Alpine purchased in July of '66. Just about 50 years ago to the day! I paid $400 for it. Mine was white like this one, but it had a red interior and steelies instead of wires. (And "Moon Equipped" decals on the front fenders). Unfortunately, it turned into a pile of rust by the mid seventies. This one doesn't look too bad and the price seems about right.
