Hollywood megastar William Shatner, best known for his role as the original Captain Kirk in the “Star Trek” TV and movie franchise, will be on hand to sell two vehicles during Barrett-Jackson‘s Palm Beach Auction. What cars exactly? A 2002 Aston Martin DB7 Volante and his mint-condition 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton. So how much does the Shatner name add to their value?

I've sometimes thought it would be fun to get a VW Phaeton, swap the badges for ones from a Passat, and see if anybody noticed.

I actually lived across the street from Shatner (and the house where the whole dead wife scandal happened) when I was little, up until I was 9 or so. I don't recall ever seeing anything in the way of interesting cars coming or going from his house, though. (And I would have noticed, because while I had pretty much no idea who Shatner was at that age, I was totally car-crazy.)
