The Amelia today announced that legendary NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon has been named the event’s 2023 Honoree.
Set for March 2-5, The Amelia will feature a Saturday seminar featuring Gordon–as well as NASCAR Hall of Fame crew chief Ray Evernham–and there will also be opportunities to meet the famed driver on the concours show field on Sunday.
Hagerty CEO McKeel Hagerty points out that Jeff Gordon “embodies the spirit of The Amelia.” Hagerty adds that, “His incredible success on the track has made him a household name, but Jeff is more than a legendary driver. His charitable heart is on display at Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation, where he has led the battle to find a cure for childhood cancer for more than two decades.”
The 2023 event also marks the very first time that Broad Arrow Auctions will be the official auction house of The Amelia.

A looooooooooooooooong time ago, I photographed a Busch race at Lanier Speedway.
There was a young driver there named Jeff Gordon. Even then, the autograph line was long. I remember two young girls in home-made Jeff Gordon T-shirts.
I need to pull some of those images.
