If you got some of the best examples of the worst cars ever, or worst examples of the best, then you’ll want to enter Concours d’Lemons California. Now, there’s more initiative than ever to be an overachieving underachiever. Or is that an underachieving overachiever?
Either way, here are some of the awards.
“This Car Should Have been a Lawsuit” class is new, with a trophy presented by Conn Law PC. The San Francisco/Los Angeles-based law firm specializes in auto dealer fraud and lemon law–how apropos.
If you need encouragement to throw caution to the wind, one car will be awarded “Most Dangerous,” with a trophy presented by Hagerty. This might be a good reminder to check your insurance, too–auto, health, life.
Lastly, the Worst of Show will get a mechanical watch from Oris. While that hooptie that wins that honor may not make it even off the showfield, the high-quality timepiece will certainly last far longer, and will most likely be more beautiful, too.
The Concours d’Lemons California takes place August 17, during Monterey Car Week. It will feature a list of celebrity judges, who were somehow conned into this. Among them are our own Publisher Emeritus, Tim Suddard, who will serve as Chief Judge.
“I think the judges have a harder time choosing ‘winners’ at Lemons then they do at other events,” Tim said. “All the cars are so spectacularly bad.”
