My convertible TR8 is hotted up quite a bit with both engine/suspension so can be fast, but I wouldn't want to run it at a track day without a roll bar.
Vintage cars are not a terribly uncommon sight at this event, but we'd like to see even more this year.
Mills Robinson won the "Fastest Vintage Award" last year in his Chevy Camaro.
Think your classic racer is fast? Want to see how it stacks up against more modern challengers? Our sister magazine, Grassroots Motorsports, holds an event every year at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, called the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge. This year’s event will fall on July 17. The purpose? To find the fastest track cars in the country and create a huge gathering of really cool track terrors.
Want to bring your classic racer and show everyone what good old-fashioned carburetors and elbow grease can do? We have a special “Fastest Vintage Award” just for you. Vintage cars are not a terribly uncommon sight at this event, but we’d like to see even more this year.
To get started, just fill out the vehicle information form, email it to Rick Goolsby, and wait for approval. We hope to see you there!
