This weekend’s La Jolla Concours d’Elegance celebrates the glitz and glamour of the roaring 1920s to 1930s with more than 200 vehicles on hand. Nothing better represents glitz and glamour than Hollywood, and the event will showcase several examples with connections to showbiz.
Judy Garland may be best remembered for her ruby slippers, but she also had a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE. Jack Douglas wrote for a who’s who of comedians, from Red Skelton to Bob Hope, but he also owned a 1955 Jaguar D-Type. And, if you love planes, too, Steve McQueen’s biplane will soar over the concours in a vintage aircraft flyover.
