This year’s <em>Classic Motorsports</em> Mitty Presented by <a href="http://www.mazdausa.com">Mazda</a> and sanctioned by <a href="http://www.hsrrace.com/">Historic Sportscar Racing</a> featured something for everyone, with historic race cars, sports cars on the infeld, vendors, workshops and parties.<br />

More than 20 of these historic cars participated in the weekend events, and they were a thrill to see and hear during the weekend.<br />

The MG oorral was hosted by our friends at the <a href="http://www.peachtreemg.com/">Peachtree MG Registry</a> and the <a href="http://www.namgbr.org/">North American MGB Registry</a>, who grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for the MG car corral attendees throughout the weekend.<br />

In addition to their car corral, they participated in the big noon parade lap and had a Saturday driving tour. We want to thank Mike Guido and the club for bringing out these terrific cars.<br />

The car had an engine issue, and the original engine is apart but complete. The Merak also includes a spare block.<br />

Our friend Murray Smith, chairman of Lime Rock Park’s <a href="http://www.limerock.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=66&Itemid=60">Historic Festival 31</a>, called to let us know that he is now accepting race car entries for the big Labor Day weekend (August 30-September 2) vintage racing extravaganza. “We again expect at least 300 cars, but we do limit the total count so as to ensure everyone gets the maximum amount of quality seat time: practice, qualifying and four races,” Smith said.<br />

The Lime Rock Historic Festival is comprised of three days of racing for authentic vintage and historic automobiles, in 10 groups. “There are races for cars built before 1939, including some of the great and powerful cars driven by heroes like Tazio Nuvolari and Richard Seaman,” Smith told us. In addition, the Ken Epsman-led Trans-Am cars–the real cars from 1966 to 1972–visit the East Coast from their home in California.<br />
<br />
Sandwiched between the Saturday and Monday vintage races is the Sunday in the Park Concours, organized by notable restorer Kent Bain. Past Rolex Best in Show winners have included a</span><span style="color:#000000;"> Mille Miglia winning </span><span style="color:#000000;">1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta, a stellar 1911 Pope Hartford; and last year, the 1957 1000 kilometer Caracas, Venezuela GP winner, piloted by Phil Hill and Peter Collins: a 1957 Ferrari 335 Sport (RHD), chassis tipo 520.<br />
