I know I shouldn't be surprised because it's the Petersen and all that, but dang, that's a lot of really rad racing history.

It may seem hard to believe, but the BMW 3 Series debuted 50 years ago, in 1975 with the E21. The Petersen Automotive Museum celebrates that milestone anniversary with a special exhibit, “The Ultimate Racing Machine.”
Featured BMWs include:
1978 BMW 320i Group 5
1983 BMW 320i
1990 BMW M3 Group A DTM
1990 BMW M3 GTM
1996 BMW M3 GT2
2001 BMW M3 GTR
2001 BMW M3 GTR Straßenversion (Street version)
2011 BMW M3 GT
2020 BMW M4 DTM Class 1
2023 BMW M4 GT4
2024 BMW M4 GT4 EVO
The “Ultimate Racing Machine” is part of the newly reimagined Vault and the special exhibit is now open to the public for a limited time.
I know I shouldn't be surprised because it's the Petersen and all that, but dang, that's a lot of really rad racing history.
If it were me I'd try to expand the exhibit to include other BMW race cars like the 2002 and e9 CS coupes, but even when it's limited to 3 series cars it should be a good exhibition. The Petersen is on my bucket list, I need to get there one of these days.
