The 1980s and 1990s gave the world some of the wildest cars (in both looks and performance) ever made.

Fitting, then, the Petersen Automotive Museum is opening a new exhibit focused solely on the cars and culture of some of the raddest years in history.

Set to open on June 7, “Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the ’80s and ’90s” will feature high-performance machines like the McLaren F1, Vector M12, Cizeta V16T and Audi Sport quattro Group B rally car, as well as pop culture icons like the DeLorean DMC-12 used in Back to the Future and the Volkswagen Beetle that appeared in Austin Powers.

The exhibit will also be interactive, with video games and “technology that strongly influenced the era” available to experience.

Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the ’80s and ’90s” runs through April 2026.
