Like to party among cars in a beautiful setting? Of course you do. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix will open with not one, but two parties to kick off its race weekend.

On August 1, the Garden Party will take place at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Inside the greenhouse will be cars. The focus will be on small and unusual vehicles, with a sampling of microcars from the Lane Motor Museum and an assortment of Minis. In addition to the rides, there will be hors d’oeuvres, food stations, wine, Helltown Beer and bar cocktails.

The next night, on August 2, there will be the Evening of Speed. Drivers will parade their race cars from the track through Oakland and the University of Pittsburgh to the Frick Fine Arts Building. Against the landmark Renaissance villa, you’ll find vintage race cars, other displays, meet and greets, and insightful presentations. The festivities outdoors are free, but the reception inside will be reserved for drivers, their guests and a limited number of others.

Both nights will include the “Exhibition of Speed” paddock, featuring special exhibitions for Ragtime Racers and Vintage Indy.
