Where some might see a closed bridge as an obstacle, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix sees it as an opportunity to add two new events to it 2025 schedule.

With the Panther Hollow Bridge in Schenley Park closed for repairs, PVGP Competition Director Joe Teplitz explains that “we are rerouting the vintage street race onto Overlook Drive and forming a new Hillclimb event to continue the racing action to the golf course,” enthusiastically adding that “This represents a major enhancement to our Schenley Park offering … for both spectators and drivers. We’ve always considered how to incorporate the Schenley Oval into our course, and this does it. The uphill sweeping esses with Oakland and the City of Pittsburgh in the background will be spectacular!”

The 2.1-mile Schenley Oval follows the Boulevard of the Allies, but veers left just before the Panther Hollow Bridge. The course then makes its way up Overlook Drive and down onto Greenfield Road before making two short left turns back onto the Boulevard.

The Panther Hollow Hillclimb consists of a 1-mile sprint that starts at the Phipps Conservatory and the Schenley Park Visitors Center and snakes its way up Circuit Drive to the finish line at the Neill Log House.

Registration for the 2025 PVGP opens on February 10. Visit pvgp.org for more information.
