Rally RD: Collector Car Investment for Everyone

Investment apps have been an app store mainstay ever since the smartphone got popular. But what if you could invest in your favorite vintage sports cars instead of in that bank in Belize? You’re probably thinking that’ll take about six figures to start. It used to, but now there’s a new startup called Rally Rd.

Their free app allows you to invest in “shares” of the classics they hold. No–you won’t actually have a Ferrari 512 in your garage–but you will still get to make an investment in a market with historically awesome returns. Shares seem to range from $8 to $100, and every car also features a backstory, photos and an inspection.

Will this be the final death blow to a hobby that some complain is already trampled by Wall Street types just looking to make a buck, or will Rally Rd. finally let the average Joes bid at Monterey?

"this be the final death blow to a hobby that some complain is already trampled by Wall Street types just looking to make a buck,"

The massive commercialization of the old car hobby expediated by social media and other commercialization efforts has pushed the hobby beyond the reach of the average blok. You can't even buy an old clunker Ford Granada without the owner thinking it is worth a years wages.  The concept of agregating the values of many cars into investment options will do what is already happening, "extremely inflate the ( i won't use the word 'value' hear) purchase prices of all cars.
