Through streams of warm Cenrtral California sun, a euphony of high-pitched shrills from vintage F1 cars and deep rumblings from old-school IROC racers rises to a fever pitch before several peripheral-flooding flashes of color dive down into Laguna Seca’s iconic corkscrew–all gone just as quickly as they arrived.

Interested? That’s pretty much what the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion has in store for its 2025 event, set for August 13-16 during Monterey Car Week.

In addition to classes comprised of virtually everything from pre-1955 Grand Prix cars to yesterday’s prototype racers, 2025 will feature special celebrations for the original International Race of Champions Series–the first time since 2002 IROC race cars have appeared on the West Coast–and the 75th anniversary of Formula 1.

The 2025 run groups are as follows:

  • 1922-1955 Grand Prix – Juan Manuel Fangio Cup
  • 1966-1985 Formula One – Mario Andretti Trophy
  • 1991-2011 IMSA, ALMS, Grand Am, FIA, World Challenge – Scott Pruett Legends of Endurance Cup
  • 1966-1972 Historic Trans-Am – Parnelli Jones Trophy
  • 1955-1967 SCCA Large Displacement Production – Ken Miles Trophy
  • 1981-1991 IMSA GTP, GTO, Group C – Hurley Haywood Trophy
  • 1973-1981 IMSA GT, GTU, GTX, FIA – Peter Gregg Trophy
  • 1963-1968 USRRC – Jim Hall Cup
  • 1960-1972 Saloon – Dan Gurney Trophy
  • 1950-1960 Small Displacement Production – John Morton Trophy
  • 1947-1960 Front Engine GT and Sports Racers – Briggs S. Cunningham Trophy
  • 1961-1975 FIA Manufacturers Championship – Pedro Rodriguez Trophy
  • IROC – Unser Family Cup
  • Ragtime Racers Exhibition
  • Formula One Exhibition – Phil Hill Cup

Not just any old-school racer is accepted to run at the Rolex Reunion, as Bruce Canepa, Reunion Advisory Council Chair, explains: “The Advisory Council takes a very thorough look at each entry to determine the car’s authenticity, provenance and period-correctness.

Replicas, continuations or overbuilt cars that differ from the day they originally raced are simply not accepted. We require, and visitors expect, only the best of the best real cars with racing pedigree and historical significance.”

The on-track action will be joined by several off-track activities including meet-and-greet sessions with drivers plus the chance to get up close to some of the most legendary race machines ever made.

Tickets for general admission, VIP hospitality packages, camping and more will go on sale on December 4 at WeatherTechRaceway.com or by calling the tickets and accommodations office at 831-242-8200.

Think you have a vintage racer renowned enough to compete? Entry applications open on December 2, available only at WeatherTechRaceway.com.
