RPM Futures Concours Class Encourages Younger Generations of Classic Car Enthusiasts

The RPM Futures Class, a concours class announced by the RPM Foundation, aims to encourage and support younger generations interested in both classic cars and participating in concours events, as well as “challenge the perception that newer generations don’t have the same passion for classic cars as those before.”

Specifically, the class is “designated for individuals 30 years old or under or who are actively enrolled in a restoration program – and who have had a significant role in restoring or preserving their vehicle.”

The RPM Futures Class will make its first appearance at this November’s Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance, and will be “rolled out at Concours events across the country.”

TACOMA, Wash. (March 11, 2021) - The RPM Foundation, a member of America’s Automotive Trust, is proud to announce that the RPM Futures Class will be held at the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance for the first time this November and rolled out at Concours events across the country.

Designed to challenge the perception that newer generations don’t have the same passion for classic cars as those before, the RPM Futures class is designated for individuals 30 years old or under or who are actively enrolled in a restoration program – and who have had a significant role in restoring or preserving their vehicle.

Jason Wenig, owner of The Creative Workshop in Dania Beach, Florida, worked with the RPM Foundation to establish the new class, which will be appearing at additional Concours events.

“One of the biggest challenges I face is finding the talent needed to restore, service and repair our wonderful classic cars,” Wenig says.  “For the past several years, I have been working closely with the RPM Foundation to help them ensure the skills needed to support our hobby not only remain, but grow. I’m proud to be a part of their initiatives and to support them.”

“We are truly invested in helping to inspire and create the next generation of collectors and restorers, and the RPM Futures Class aligns perfectly with our mission.  We are extremely honored to be partnering with RPM on the first-ever Futures Class,” said Lindsey Harrell, the Hilton Head Island Concours’ President.  “With our Driving Young America charitable fund, we support the education, inspiration and creativity of youth who have an interest in the automobile, and we look forward to having our guests see that first-hand this November.”

The RPM Futures Class provides an opportunity to showcase an aspiring restoration professional’s work, and allows them to share a moment on the Concours field alongside some of the rarest and most historically significant vehicles in the world.

The RPM Foundation, the nonprofit automotive trades’ advocate which promotes Restoration, Preservation and Mentorship in the collector car hobby, understands that young people find different paths to their exposure to the classic car world. This exposure needs engagement, and by partnering with events like the Hilton Head Island Concours, the RPM Foundation is providing young people the support needed by having their vehicles, their workmanship and their passion showcased on the Concours field for all to see.
