Out of all the Monterey events, one that stands above the rest is The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.
Although seemingly set rather haphazardly on the golf course of the Quail Lodge, this event features both exclusive, high-end cars, as well as some more ordinary cars. We say this not out of criticism, but to let you know the range of what you can see here.
Unlike many of the other Monterey events we have been to, the partners who have displays at the Quail set the tone of the whole event. Instead of the T-shirts and trinkets for sale at other venues, vendors at The Quail feature automobile manufacturers–some of which we have never heard of or have only seen on the internet.
About every 30 minutes, one of the vendors held a press conference and introduced something new and notable. Maserati introduced a new street-legal track car, Rolls-Royce introduced its first all-electric car and Lotus, Singer and others all had unique introductions.
Another thing that differentiates The Quail from other events is the food and drink. Included in the rather extravagant ticket price is all the food and drink you care to consume from various stands set up to represent cuisine from around the world.
