Why Is the Vector W8 Supercar’s Exhaust Note Terrible?

Vector W8. 625 horsepower. Claimed top speed of 242 mph. Wedged enough to make Marcello Gandini blush.

Here’s the thing: All that power goes through three-speed automatic, with an exhaust note possessing all the gusto of a lethargic sloth. Watch and comment.

While it's not the worst sound I've ever heard, it certainly doesn't sound like a 625hp, 242mph beast.  It's rather sleepy in just driving mode, and even at w.o.t., it's not impressive.  I'll take the growl of my 500hp Cleveland 351 in my Pantera, which at idle, is still more aggressive sounding than the Vector at wide open throttle.

When it comes to exhaust note, small-block Ford is tough to beat.
