The Volvo Club of America has established the Irv Gordon MilnMilr Scholarship in the name of the late Irv Gordon for students interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry.
Gordon is famously known for driving his 1966 Volvo P1800S for 53 years, racking up more than 3,000,000 miles on the odometer.
One lucky applicant will be awarded the $5000 scholarship—endowed by Castrol Oil and administered through Driving Young America—and can be applied to any "accredited, post-secondary school of the winner’s choice to study for a career in automotive technology."
The deadline to enter is August 18, 2020, and all applicants must either be the child or grandchild of a member, or endorsed by a member of the Volvo Club of America.
Visit the Volvo Club of America for more information and how to submit an entry.

Commemorating the life of Irv Gordon and his Guinness World Record achievement of driving his 1966 Volvo P1800S for 53 years accumulating over 3,320,000 miles, the Volvo Club of America has established this scholarship to educate and encourage students to pursue a career in the automotive industry. To name this in Mr. Gordon’s honor reinforces the importance of vehicle maintenance and adhering to routine, recommended maintenance practices and insisting on the use of premium (Castrol) lubricants and OEM parts.
Endowed by Castrol® and administered through Driving Young America, the winning applicant will receive a $5,000 scholarship presented by the Volvo Club of America to an accredited, post-secondary school of the winner’s choice to study for a career in automotive technology.
Applicants must be the child or grandchild of a Volvo Club of America member OR must be endorsed by a Volvo Club of America member.
Deadline for applications is August 18, 2020.
The award will be presented as part of a virtual event series hosted by the Driving Young America Boulevard, powered by Castrol. The Irv Gordon 'MilnMilr'
scholarship celebration presented by Volvo Club of America will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 8:00 PM ET.
