One might think that arriving midweek during Monterey Car Week to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca wouldn’t offer much, but think again. The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion kicked off on Wednesday, with an outdoor museum of iconic classic sports cars and more.
The world’s only surviving Aston Martin DP215, which was driven by Lucien Bianchi and Phil Hill at Le Mans in 1963.
Jim Hall and A.J. Foyt drove this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport.
A 1953 Cunningham C4-R, a car that would win 10 races during the 1950s, including the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1953.
Luigi Chinetti and Jean Lucas won he 1949 24 Hours of Spa with this Ferrari 166 MM.
With this Chaparral 2-Chevrolet, Jim Hall and Hap Sharp took the overall win of the 1965 12 Hours of Sebring.
The power players of the sport made appearances, which included Bill Warner, the founder of The Amelia. He will serve as grand marshal for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
Dorsey Schroeder, the former IMSA champion, oversees competition at the event. When he tells you to “protect the car,” his résumé makes that statement carry some weight.
