Meeting Up with the Previous Owner

Former owner, Doug Allison, inspects the fiberglass dash we had just finished.

Overall, Doug seemed pleased with the progress we had made on the car.

Recently, we got a call from Doug Allison, the guy who we bought our Tornado Typhoon from. He was traveling to Florida and asked if he could stop by and check on our progress.

“Heck yeah,“ we said. We thought it would be fun to show him what we were doing and also to learn a bit more about the car.

It turns out his father-in-law, along with long-time vintage racer Bill Dentinger, had bought this car as a spare for a Tornado Tempest that they had built to vintage race in the Midwest. They then sold that Tempest (a Triumph powered Tornado) to Doug. He decided he didn’t need a spare and sold the Typhoon to us.

He seemed genuinely impressed with our progress and thrilled to see that this one-time parts car was well on its way to being restored.

As the one who had told us to put my money where our mouths were and see what famous events we could get this car entered in, he seemed delighted that we had been accepted for the Amelia Island Concours as well.
