Before entering the Pinehurst Concours we would need to detail the car. After clay-barring the dust and dirt off the paint, a nice coat of wax made our old Mercedes look bette than new.
One of the last things we did was to rebuild and varnish the original center console. This is a very practical thing to have in an old car.
With an exhaust system on the car it was time to start it for the first time since the restoration was completed. When reinstalling the distributor, we noticed that it was not working properly. Both the mechanical and centrifugal advance systems were not working. No wonder this thing was so slow!
Our initial test drive went well and after a bit of sorting, we were very pleased with how our old Mercedes looked and drove.
